Music Review Analysis of Himesh Reshammiya's song Photocopy, composed by Sajid Wajid.

Sajid Wajid - The Composers

It is an energetic peppy dance track, with a strong deja-vu feel of Sajid Wajid earlier tracks in this genre.

Tune wise, it is a strictly average fare, with a mix of SW's earlier works like Fevicol Se n songs of Houseful series. The beginning mukhda line, TU NATHI TOH TERA PHOTO PAN CHAAL SE has traces of stanza line, PUBLIC SEHAR KI KARE TERA WAIT RE, THUMKE JOH KAMARIYA HILE ZILA KE ESTATE RE from FEVICOL SE (Dabangg).

Orchestration wise, the Band Baaja Baaraat tune has traces of Thaana Mein Baithe Pandeyjee (Dabangg). Lyrics of 1st stanza, Diskhiyoun Dhum was the tag line of SW's song Diskhiyoun Dhum.

There is also inspiration from Dhol Baje from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, in terms of the starting male interlude of both songs.

Female singer's vocals are modulated.

The more a listener listens to this song, the more they will like it and the more it will grow upon them. This song takes the same route like Fevicol Se whereby it slowly keeps on growing upon the listener.

Himesh - The Singer

Himesh has done full justice to the song, by singing with energetic vocals and he sounds quite good in the 2nd stanza.

His best lines, GAALI BHI GORI TERE HOTON SE CHALSE * 2 from 2.16 to 2.31, JOH TERI GAALI NATHI-NATHI-NATHI from 2.31 to 2.35, MANN MEIN JAGA-AA from 3.34 to 3.37 sung with lot of masti.

Himesh's lines, SOORAJ SAJA DUNGA, CHANDA BICHADUNGA, KADMON MEIN KEH DE JOH TU HAAN from 3.02 to 3.09 is sung with his trademark vintage deliberate sooth feel good vocals, just the way he sung the lines, DIL MEIN BAS TU HI TU O JAANE JAANA, TUNE KIYA HAI MUJHKO SABSE BEGAANA from 1.34 to 1.42 in 1st stanza, & DEKHE TUJHE JAB KOI JALTA HAI MERA DIL, TU HAI MERI BASI MERI...MERI HAI MANZIL from 2.31 to 2.39 in I LOVE U O SAYYONI from AAP KA SUROOR.

For a composer to sing in another composer's music studio for the first time, it is like stepping out of one's comfort zone and requires to shed any inhibitions or reservations whatsoever. Himesh has seemed to adjust very well and with comfortable ease in this aspect.

The closest that Himesh's singing in this song can be related to is in Good Boy Bad Boy Title Trax.

{tabs Verdict}

Listeners are having a blast listening n grooving to it, coz there is not a single dull moment throughout the song.

It is a song that could grow upon the listener upon repeat hears, especially after the music video is out because such songs work more on the big screen, and subscequently are enjoyed even more so by the listeners / audience when the film is a success at the box office.

Sallu Mia lip syncing to Himesh's voice and endorsing it for the first time is a treat for Himesh fans, considering the fact that Sallu Mia was his mentor and Himesh has scored music for so many Salman starrers to date, but yet did not sing in any one of them.

If Himesh is to continue singing an odd song here and there in Salman starrers whose music is being given by Sajid Wajid, then it is a request to SW that next time they should give Himesh a romantic duet like Dagabaaz Re, Tere Mast Mast Do Nain or Tere Naina Maar Hi Daalenge. If it has to be a bindaas peppy track, then it should be on the level of Munni Badnam and/or Fevicol Se.

Sajid Wajid made Himesh sing one of their songs upon Salman's request. May by Himesh can return this by making Wajid croon one of his songs. After all, there is no harm in maintaining a good relationship with your musical colleagues. If Photocopy becomes exceptionally popular, then may a trend of Himesh singing other SW songs that are for Sallu mia's films can be seen.

After a very quiet last year for Himesh as a playback singer, this year has started on a good note for him early on, thanks to Salman Khan and Sajid Wajid due to which his voice has been brought to the limelight once again after quite a hiatus since Photocopy has done well.
